| Strideaway Acres is an equine breeding
and training farm owned and operated by Steen and Cathy Reggelsen.
With an active Pony Club background herself,
Cathy has always had an interest in the English disciplines. But 19
years ago, she purchased her first stallion, Scotch N Soda who was
an up and coming young Paint stallion by Hot Son Dee Man. Together
her and Scottie campaigned in both breed and open shows thru out the
province. Initially Scottie was bred to mostly stock type mares but
it soon became evident that his offspring liked to jump AND jumped
very well! So Thoroughbred mares were added to the broodmare band,
which gave the youngsters more size and speed for the jumper and
eventing courses.
Over the years, Strideaway has diversified their breeding program to the Thoroughbred racing market. Steen and Cathy purchased several mares and they were bred to outside stallions. The resulting youngsters were prepped for the Fall Yearling Sales and Sales Prep became part of their program. As well outside mares came in for foaling out, track horses are sent in for winter lay ups and yearlings are sent in for breaking and track prep. Strideaway has become a full service facility for many breeds and disciplines. Daughter Keely is an A Pony Club alumni as well as an Equine Canada certified Level 1 Coach. Keely trains and campaigns a number of horses for clients, both on the farm and away. The newest addition to Strideaway is the charismatic Thoroughbred stallion Cheroot. Brought up from California in March 2009, he had 2 weeks under saddle and he was on display at the OK Breeders Group Showcase in April. Watch for Cheroot and Keely in dressage and jumper classes in the future! For information on any of the stallions or services that Strideaway has to offer Contact info is given below! |
